After Edward Cappola was diagnosed with cancer, he began to receive chemotherapy to rid his body of the disease. Halfway through the New Dorp man’s treatment last year, he developed neuropathy and began to experience pain and numbness in his legs and feet.
The once-active senior no longer could climb stairs; even walking became difficult. For relief, Cappola was referred by his primary care doctor to Drs. Jack D’Angelo and Christopher Perez of Forest Rehabilitation Medicine P.C. in West Brighton who recommended he try a relatively new pain management solution.
The Calmare Pain Therapy Treatment is a non-invasive alternative to potentially addictive painkillers and surgically-implanted options for those with nerve damage. The device consists of a multiprocessor and skin surface electrodes that send a “no pain” signal to the brain, overriding the existing pain signal to provide relief.
